Statement from Mayor Lightfoot on the Rescue of the Alligator in the Humboldt Park Lagoon
"Safely and humanely rescuing the alligator in Humboldt Park was truly a team effort. First, I want to thank Frank Robb for coming to Chicago and leading the effort, which came to a good conclusion for all. I also want to thank people here in Chicago who were on the ground and whose diligence led to this great result. Namely, Chicago Animal Care and Control, especially Executive Director Kelley Gandurski and Inspector Taurus Drake, who participated in locating and capturing the alligator, the Chicago Park District, the Chicago Police Department’s 14th District, as well as volunteers, partners and the community for their cooperation. The City will ensure the alligator is relocated to a safe haven, where it can live in a proper and healthy habitat."
