Located within the Albany Park community, the Foster/Edens TIF district is characterized by the former Sunstar manufacturing site, the commercial corridors on Elston and Lawrence and recreational space at the Forest Preserve and Gompers Park. The purpose of the 232-acre TIF is to encourage a broad range of improvements including, the development of underutilized and vacant properties, the improvement of existing park land and facilities, the development of market rate and affordable housing, and infrastructure enhancements that improve streetscapes.
