Propane regulations (for events where vendors supply their own propane):

  • There shall be a 200 lb. maximum allotment of propane per vendor structure, per day.
  • All propane tanks connected for use and awaiting use by a vendor, shall be located a minimum of 10 feet from vendor structures, buildings, and heat producing appliances. They shall not be placed under a structure and shall be kept out of the public way.
  • All propane tanks on site shall be secured on a level base, in an upright position, and protected from mechanical injury.
  • Propane hoses shall be protected from mechanical damage and cable ramps or tape used to avoid a tripping hazard.
  • Propane tanks shall be stamped with the manufacturing date and stamped or tagged with current recertification markings.
  • All components of propane connections and cooking appliances shall be U.L. listed.
  • There will be no separate propane storage area on site unless allowed in a predetermined area by the Fire Commissioner.
  • The transportation of full and empty tanks, using a proper method of conveyance, shall not occur during festival/event hours of operation.

 

Vendor structure regulations for all events:

  • Tents and canopies over 400 square feet require a building permits and must be erected by a city licensed tent erector.
  • All structures under which heat producing appliances are used must meet NFPA 701 fire resistance standards with proper labels affixed or accompany documentation on site to prove fire resistance.
  • Vendor structures which are not required to meet NFPA 701 standards, i.e. under which no heat producing appliances are used, shall not be located within 10 feet of heat producing appliances.
