Juneteenth Housing Expo

On the northwest corner of Halsted Street and 115th Street

This free all-ages event celebrates the Juneteenth holiday by inviting Far South Side communities together for an afternoon of live music, food from local Black-owned restaurants, family activities, a resource vendor fair, and a small business marketplace featuring everything from beauty products to fashion!

 

35th St. Corridor Juneteenth

11am-5pm

Bronzeville

35th and Dr. Martin Luther King Drive through the Phillip Jackson Parkway

A village themed community event that will highlight youth and adult creative artists as well as local small businesses with a lot of fun and educational activities. The festival will also feature an array of performances, including live musical bands, dance, spoken word, and more, showcasing the talent and diversity of the community.

 

BMP Juneteenth Family Festival

12-7pm

110th and Longwood

New to the festival this year will be a partnership with My Block My Hood My City, an organization founded and directed by Jahmal Cole. With this new partnership, we seek to prioritize and enhance youth belonging and empowerment. My Block My Hood My City will be sponsoring the youth and family area and will bring their vast expertise working with youth to the forefront. Included in this endeavor will be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, as we collaborate, to draw attention to #savestreetball, a campaign by My Block My Hood My City to ensure that communities throughout Chicagoland have updated, outdoor basketball courts for our youth and families to utilize.

 

Juneteenth Village Fest

Common, Domani, and Dead Prez! The festival will also feature rides, games, food vendors, and entertainment from the South Shore Drill Team and the Jesse White Tumblers.

Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony

10-11:30am

Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington St.

Mayor Brandon Johnson and other city leaders will gather to raise the Juneteenth flag.

 

June 18 & 19, 2024

 

Boxing Out Negativity Juneteenth

9am-9pm

1616 S. Avers

The event will include other organizations with free resources, free food, entertainment, and a boxing event.

 

June 19, 2024

 

Juneteenth Youth Olympics

10am-8pm

817 E. 104th Street

Featuring a parade/walk, a block party and Youth Olympics. Teams will compete from not only the entire city, state and region but also New York, Los Angeles and Washington DC.

 

Juneteenth BBQ

10am-8:30pm

740 E. 56th Place

Blues and R&B Artist Celebrating Black Creativity and Expression.

 

Juneteenth Block Party

12-9pm

1200 E. 79th St.

A day-long event with fun-filled activities for all ages. This year's event will feature a Kids’ Club with learning, games and activities for children and a Festival with vendors and performers.
