Protect Yourself This Respiratory Virus Season
Heading into fall and winter, when we typically see increases in viral respiratory infections, it is important that all Chicagoans stay up-to-date on vaccinations - including COVID-19, flu and RSV.
Who Should Get Vaccinated?
- Everyone 6 months and older should get a NEW updated COVID-19 vaccine.
- Everyone 6 months and older should get an annual flu shot.
- For adults age 60+, pregnant, or parents of an infant, check with your doctor to determine if an RSV vaccine is right for you or your child.
Where to get vaccinated - COVID-19 & Flu
COVID-19 and flu vaccines are available to all Chicagoans 6 months and older. Please see information below based on your insurance status.
*NOTE: COVID and flu vaccines are slowly arriving to pharmacies, doctor’s offices and CDPH vaccination clinics. We encourage you to call the facility to verify vaccine inventory prior to your appointment.
If You Have:
Private Insurance/Medicare/Medicaid
Visit your healthcare provider or local in-network pharmacy. It is recommended that individuals call ahead to ensure their provider or pharmacy has doses available prior to scheduling an appointment.
Be sure to bring your insurance card, as provder will need to submit a claim to your insurer.

No Insurance/Under-Insured
Visit one of the three CDPH Immunization Clinics. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is highly encouraged. Create an account and register for an appointment at https://getvaxchi.chicago.gov or by calling the clinic.

More Ways To Stay Healthy
The best way to protect yourself and loved ones is to get vaccinated, but you can also take these simple everyday preventive actions:
- Wash your hands often
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- If you are sick, stay home
- Wear a mask in public if you are high risk for illness, or are sick
