Description of Work: Fire Alarm Permit
Requirements
Making sure that your description of work includes key information, is accurate, and is concise is very important to ensuring the plan examination and inspection process will run smoothly.
Note: The permitting system will automatically add **FIRE ALARM PERMIT”” to the beginning of the description you enter.
For fire alarm systems the description must:
- Describe scope of work, for example: “NEW,” “REPLACEMENT,” or “ALTERATION OF EXISTING”
- Describe the type of system, for example: “FIRE ALARM SYSTEM,” “HIGH-RISE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM,” or “ELECTROMAGNETIC LOCK SYSTEM”
- Describe the occupancy to be served, for example “GROUP B OCCUPANCY (LAW FIRM OFFICE)” or “MERCANTILE OCCUPANCY (PET STORE)” or “INSTITUTIONAL OCCUPANCY (HOSPITAL)”
- If the system will be installed in only part of a building, such as a tenant buildout, describe the installation location, such as “SUITE 5802” or “58TH FLOOR”

NEW FIRE ALARM SYSTEM FOR NEW 6-STORY MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING (GROUP B OCCUPANCY).
REPLACEMENT OF FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SERVING GROUP B OCCUPANCY (ADVERTISING OFFICE), FLOORS 7 THRU 10 IN EXISTING HIGH-RISE BUILDING.
ALTERATION OF EXISTING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM, INCLUDING NEW DEVICES, THROUGHOUT EXISTING GROUP E OCCUPANCY (SMITH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL), NO CHANGE TO CITY FIRE ALARM BOX.
